Paint

Post by qwerty165 »

My 1953 Series 2 has the paint code J which is Dark Grey, what colour actually is this? Is it Birch Grey or Clarendon Grey?

Thanks for this information. Though I still can not find which grey a J in the chassis number refers to.

Probably clarendon grey as birch is a lot lighter. See this thread for photos: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... +clarendon

I have not got any pictures yet but I will take some tomorrow, though I think the colour may be Clarendon Grey after looking at the two pictures in this post:

I'm sure if you tried some T cut or similar it will be Clarendon and look like the grey in Tyson's pic. You can see the blueyness in the bonnet on your pic, its very faded and oxidised.
cheers

Thanks for this advice, I was starting to think Claredon grey being as there is a blueyness to the colour.
