Can anyone tell me what the dwell angle and ignition timing should be for a lucas distributor no. 41456?

Don't worry about dwell angle - just set 15 thou gap. For timing - swing the dizzy back and forth slowly to find the best idle position - and then road test to check there is NO pinking. You can then try a little more advance - until you do hear some pinking - and then take it back slightly so it's 'not quite' pinking. Check the vacuum advance is working - by sucking the pipe and watching the base plate move.
