B&B Clutch

Fitted a new B&B clutch but having problems its very heavy and hard to get in gear is it a crap clutch.
Who would you buy from and what make

Is it the correct clutch for the engine/gearbox combo?

Think so bought it for a 1098 the diamater is bigger than the smaller engine

Perhaps the old clutch was just weak and felt 'light' ? Does this one work ok??

There was no clutch at all and no it crunches when you try to put it in gear

I fitted a B&B clutch a year ago gone October &, yes, very heavy in my opinion. I thought it may get lighter over time but no.
I expect that the springs must just be very strong...at least it is not likely to slip!

As for the crunching I do not think that is connected with the heavy feel.
I have recently replaced my gearbox & the thrust bearing (which had lost a chunk of graphite).
After re-assembly I had crunching.... but only intermittently (Odd)

I set up & checked the adjustment was correct (3/4" free play at the pedal, says the manual)
That the operation of the linkage & relay shaft was OK by watching underneath while an assistant worked the clutch.
I had to assume that the driven plate was still spinning causing said crunch, so took engine out again to see that the driven plate slid freely on the splines of the input shaft, that all was clean & that the input shaft had not been bent when mating engine & gearbox (did you have a struggle with this bit..if bent, it may be catching in the spigot bush in the end of the crank)

Upon re- assembly & engine back in it has been fine since.

Just been playing seems to crunch in 1st forgot to try reverse would moly slip help also gearbox has been stood a long time

The oil in the gearbox should be engine oil, cheap enough to change it in case something thicker is in there.

New engine oil it does not like reverse or 1st

So the gearbox shafts are being dragged round....look to the crank spigot bearing - did you fit a new one?

Charge battery up start it put hand brake on and make it slip to bed it in a bit how does that sound

Sounds like the best way to wear out a new clutch to me.

you mean it squeaks !!

Its nice and smooth only problem is the clutch return spring im sure its to strong all pictures ive seen look the same but were working again
