Re: Welding
Why not Schultz, it's what my welder friend recommended, he said it was very good, I'm worried nowJOWETTJAVELIN wrote:No idea about cost but make sure you give clear instructions to whoever is doing it NOT to patch - have them cut out the rot and the correct gauge steel put in.
Also, I personally would instruct them to leave it bare metal so you can do your own rustproofing instead of them applying Schultz, which is the worst thing going.

Re: Welding
Arc welding is not so clever for thin gauge metal and if you've not welded much before is pretty tricky. You may find £250 small fry compared to the final quote you get, there's a lot of work there!

Re: Welding
It has no rust-proofing properties whatsover, it's essentially some tarry/plastic-like stuff they spray on and then hardens.GPO_Van wrote:Why not Schultz, it's what my welder friend recommended, he said it was very good, I'm worried nowJOWETTJAVELIN wrote:No idea about cost but make sure you give clear instructions to whoever is doing it NOT to patch - have them cut out the rot and the correct gauge steel put in.

It lasts for a year or two and the rust breaks out all over again. Leave it bare steel and have the satisfaction of doing a proper lasting job yourself.
