Help!! Brake cylinder wont undo

Post by Dylan1970 »

Hi, I'm having big problems trying to remove the brake cylinders, the bolts wont move and the brake pipe nut mounted to chassis wont move either,
Any ideas before I reach for the extra large club hammer

Cheers

As long as you have a spanner or socket that fits properly a tap with a hammer won't hurt.
Are you sure you are turning them the right way?

Take care - VERY easy to break off the tab that secures the flexi pipe to the body......use two spanners - one to hold the flexi and the other to slacken the locking nut.

Its the flexi pipe near the body that wont shift, I have tried heat, oil, spanners socket, which way should the bottom nut turn to undo?

If it's the cylinder you want to remove and not the flexi hose, you can loosen the flexi on the back of the cylinder then feed it through the backplate and unscrew the cylinder.
Replacement is the reverse of removal :)

The flexi threads are all normal rh thread. So just the normal 'unscrewing' directions......

Hmmm - that's too bad. How much welding - and where? Can you not do the welding yourself? There may be someone nearby willing to help.....you won't know unless you ask!
