Try cleaning up the old one first (start with the contacts), as new ones are not as good as the originals, even if they are in the same state as yours.

Also check the connecting wires are nice and bright, hopefully save you the cost of a new pump.

You need to take the black plastic end cap off the pump and you will see some electrical gubbins - take some coarse paper, put it between the points and rub it so it cleans the surfaces.

Seriously - I doubt you need to buy a new pump.

I have tried cleaning the points, and put back on the car and still nothing, no ticking and not pumping any fuel to the carb, so I think this one has had it. Looks like a new one is on the cards. :)

Check with a meter - or a test lamp. The pump can be stripped down and rebuilt if it's seized. It's in the workshop manual.....do you have access to one ?

I will try and get one the weekend and then I will have a go at stripping it down and take it from there. :)

If you let me know your email address (by PM) I will scan the appropriate pages from the manual and email them to you.

Agreed! You may also be able to revive the old pump with a new set of points- much cheaper than a whole new pump.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
