I doubt it! They needed something FAST! Westminsters were used in early days - and then 1800 'Landcrab' with much modified engines.......

Re: BMC Competions Dept support vehicles
Apparently in the early days a Standard Atlas van was used
BMC may know more about this

Check the link below.

Those who follow 'Chasing Classic Cars' on Discovery will recognise this US support vehicle for BMC dealers/mechanics and competitions. Might give some clues as to what BMC were up to in the '60's and 70's - in the US at least

Well spotted Bruce
brilliant video and a short glimpse of the Ecurrie Ecosse transporter. I think thats what i thought was an Atlas as you cant see much of it in the picture as all the drivers are around it.

Brilliant videos but those damned adverts

Re: BMC Competions Dept support vehicles
yep sorry 'bout that - Interesting vehicle though and in amazingly good condition too. The sound of the engine takes me back to school buses in the late 70's!

Not BMC but ex Ferrari Formula 1 transporter, now used for transporting classic racing cars which I drove to a Goodwood Revival Meeting
