Re: Lowlight front wings
Any steel ones anywhere? Those fibreglass ones look good, though I may need to weld other bits to it so the fibreglass ones ain't good for that obviously!

Weld metal to it? Why not just fibreglass the other bits too it.

I'm better at welding than fibre glassing thats the only reason!

Re: Lowlight front wings
Any lowlight wings should go to owners of lowlight series MMs who genuinely need them, not be wasted on custom jobs. By all means use fibreglass wings but do not use up an irreplacable item.

Thanks for all your help there Mike, how do you know it isn't a low light project I have?

Re: Lowlight front wings
I had actually meant to buy them "new" not use original lowlight ones!

Re: Lowlight front wings
Because you said it was a custom job which generally means replacing highlight wings with lowlight wings.Bald Moggie Man wrote:Thanks for all your help there Mike, how do you know it isn't a low light project I have?
The patterns for lowlight wings were destroyed some years ago which is why there is a shortage. Maybe one day someone will put up the money for new patterns.

Re: Lowlight front wings
Or it could mean the ones I have are shot and I wanted new steel ones. I didn't think the lowlight would fit a high light car anyway.

Re: Lowlight front wings
Also if they can make fibre glass ones why not steel too?

Re: Lowlight front wings
Some people are more traditionalist and purist here, especially about their specialist areas. Some of us love the custom projects

Re: Lowlight front wings
I love both to be fair. My father has an original Driver Training vehicle form the Royal Mail Moggie Van, which bar a front wing is completely original also even has the fuel restricter between the carb and the fastest it goes is 50mph, low compression box, dual set of pedals, original engine etc. Its been in The Royal and Heartbeat a few times.
I just think Mike could have spoke with more respect, as he doesn't know what I have or what I am doing. Also his "info" was incorrect, as I found "new" steel low light wings in the UK. As a new member here, his attitude towards me was very poor!

Also my grandfather has an original split screen high light minor that has been in Minor Monthly etc. I love the Morris Minor in any guise!

Thanks for that and at a reasonable price. Has anyone fitted them?
