3.9 diff + 175 x 13 tyres= spot on 1408 speedo

My speedo has 1376 as its TPM also. Standard everything including wheels and it's spot on with the sat nav... all the way up to 90mph :roll:

SPEEDO FIXED!!!!!!

It was an issue with the unit itself, it transpired.

I stripped it down completely - and between the plate which spins with the gearbox cable and the one in which the current is induced, and is attached to the needle - there was an amount of grease and oil which had made its way in from the cable i think.

this was causing an amount of magnetic shielding, and then binding and gripping - thus the needle would jump.

A complete strip down of the mechanism, a good clean up and the smallest smear of machine oil and it's sorted :)
