Well Kevin, the sad fact is that it's going to take me at least a year to get th correct papers to move to Canada as a canadian citizen and at least twice as long for America to sort it's collective rear end out, so I figure 5 years is the best bet
Out of interest, when (and if) Hebe and us go back to the states or Canada, is it possible to retain our original english registration (all be it on a relevant liscence plate?) I know EBE xxxC would fit on the VA licence plates...

There's no reason why it should be a pipedream. The only way to have things is to MAKE them happen!! Source the bits and get converting!! I'm quite looking forward to a joint project. We'll have to stock up on teabags!!Hopefully the LHD minor is not just a pipedream - and Cam will have to do half of it anyway

Shouldn't have mentioned that, Cam. That Traveller seems to be getting worse by the day!Cam wrote:I'm quite looking forward to a joint project.

Sorry Guys, but I havn't even touched a LHD Minor let along own bits of one... ...but what I do have is these pics to post up:

This shows the LHD plate (37) as compared to the RHD plate (36) as shown in an exploded view of a SII gearbox.
Now, I've researched and found out that although the RHD pivot plate on both 948 and 1098 gearboxes are near identical, the LHD 948 pivot plate is very different from the LHD 1098 pivot plate (both shown as 32 in the diagram below).

This picture shows a close-up view of the 948 and 1098 pivot plates to show their diffrences.

I've produced this really close-up pic so you can all see the diffrence in shape between the two types of LHD pivot plate (both shown as 32, RHD plates are both 31). All we need to know now, ray, is what gearbox will you be wanting for this LHD you're going to create?

Well after a bit of digging (e-mail plus a dirty handed inspection) this seems to be true - Cheers Winger.isn't the RHD midget steering rack the same part as the LHD minor,
The midget's steering arms are forward of the suspension so the rack mechanicals are reversed.
Have now got a lead on a RHD midget rack near Stoke...
