Solenoid change....

Post by bluemoggie1970 »

Hi, Got a mechanic coming to fit all my seatbelts tomo, but also need a new solenoid fitting, which arrived in the post today.
Any ideas of how long it should take him to fit one just so I know he's not trying to con me!?

Thanks

20 minutes ??? What - blindfolded - with one arm tied behind your back.......... ????????? If it's a solenoid (not a pull start) then ~ 3 min max! Surely!!

You have to allow time for the mechanic to finish his cup of tea and then spend 15 minutes digging through his tool box for a non existant 1/4 whit spanner.
They are both easy jobs which you can save money on by doing yourself

It should be very quick to change a solenoid, as I removed the solenoid from my 4-door fairly quickly. However, one screw was siezed on my Travellers solenoid which meant the use of an impact screwdriver and a hammer to loosen it.

Five minute jobs are not always five minute jobs on 40+ year old cars!!!
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
