Re: DAMPERS
BOUNCE THE CAR UP AND DOWN AND THAT SHOULD PUSH THE REMAINING OIL OUT
Re: DAMPERS
Some seem to run out quite freely - others are more difficult. The fact it stinks indicates it has completely broken down - and needs to be flushed out. Can only suggest adding new oil - and continue with the bouncing - slowly flushing out the old with the new! It will however be well worth the effort - the damping will be MUCH improved!

Re: DAMPERS

Re: DAMPERS
Samuria,
A very usefull tool is a plastic syringe with plastic/silicon tubing- good for draining, filling, flushing dampers and fluids in general. I find it often comes in handy.

Re: DAMPERS
Excuse me if I'm stating the obvious (you didn't mention it) but have you removed the top cap and the valve behind the bottom cap?
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
Re: DAMPERS
no we didnt remove the topcap, but yes we did the valve

Re: DAMPERS
we took out the bolt in the top first

Re: DAMPERS
we have done the dampers
the nearside one was nearly empty
and very stiff. my mate phone the last owner who told him that he had drain that side a while ago when working on the suspension and must have forgot to top it up
( nevermind he is 82) bless him

Re: DAMPERS
no offence to the older generation
we are all heading that way and getting forgetfull
