Ignore it. You will still be enjoying driving your Minor long after their rust bucket is in the scrapyard

It all depends on whether you value the opinions of lowlife like that. Personally I'd be worried to receive their endorsements!!

As Mike says ignore it. They are a great car, tax free, low insurance and a pleasure to drive. You will see more people smile :D with delight and nostalgia, that somebody has taken the trouble to look after what has become a British icon.

Stick with it as i'm sure these cars will become very fashionable soon and then everybody will want one, maybe not the spotty idiots who were having a laugh, but then probably they were driving around no tax, no insurance and especially no brains

I had a "yoof" salute me as I drove past last week!

So some minors respect Minors... I'll get me coat.

I had some guy in his 20's right up my backside the other day, I moved over but stuck my foot down not to let him pass , eventually we had to stop at a set of lights. He rolled down his window and then I realised why he was trying to keep up... "nice motor, mint ain't it" he shouted to me.

Made my day that did :D

Who cares what a bunch of yoof chavs in a hideous modern modified car think of you and your Minor??

In fact you should be glad the chavs don't like the Minor, that is a good thing. it shows you have the good taste!

My experiences wiv yoofs have for the most part been very positive. The most negative comments seem to come from people 40 plus and 'dont get ' the morris minor thing.

Possibly, but I doubt it, certainly not because you own a Minor.

If you want to be "down with the homies in the hood" then a chavved up hatchback is the way to go.

Otherwise just relax knowing that to everyone else you are a gentleman of distinction and impeccable taste.

hehe damn chavs are funny though.
I remember when I was in Germany many years ago during my Army days in Herford, I was at a set of lights in a Beetle 1303s (A friend and I had dropped a rather nice Porsche engine in the back the week before) when 3 youths in a Golf GTI pulled alongside and were revving away waiting for green. Of course as they went green, off they sped away only for me to shoot past them in my "wolf in sheeps clothing", you should have seen their faces as I left them behind. An expression of total disbelief was looking at me in my rearview.
Moggieless :(

Another great Moggy orientated Forum.

im only 18 and i think they have massive street cred just with the right group! like at my college theres a few people into the classics. i listen to all the '' drum and bass'' music but i love my older cars especially hotrods which is why im doing my moggie up, ok they arent the quickest car but at the end of the day the speed limits only 70mph on the motorways and there just built for cruising! :) just look at there faces when you kick the a*se end out round tesco car park :D

I've just got my convertible back on the road after nine years! My nine year old daughter thinks its cool, although my wife has to sit in the back when the family go out together as I only have one rear seat belt fitted and both my children flatly refuse to get in a car without wearing a seatbelt! How times have changed! Both my kids blame teenagers for anything that has been damaged / broken / vandalised / dumped. So listen to the new generation of children, not the teenagers!

duude. your car was born sounding great.
theirs... theyve had to put stupid exhausts and rubbish air filters on them just to make them make a little bit of noise!

plus, i'd like to see any one of them in their front wheel drive euroboxes go round a roundabout sideways... not endorsing that, but they'd be impressed, the stupid lot they are.

There used to be a name for those people; they were called “Werdonkeys” (And that’s an insult to donkeys). They've been around for a long time. At one time they used to take the air cleaners off MK 2 Escorts, so they would go AHRGGRRR when they accelerated (Sorry boys but there's a difference between just being noisy and sounding on song and well sorted) and the boy racer bucket exhaust is not a new invention. They also used to jack up the back end and fit wide wheels  .

Today the accessories are just as tacky and pointless but it’s the nearest (As they see it) most of them are going to get to a Subaru. A local school teacher tells me that in many cases the parents see to it that “Boyo” has a “Cool” prattmobile and will ensure funds are also provided for the regulation tacky accessories (Ponse lights on the back, bodykit, CD player, low profile tyres, that look like elastic bands, various meaningless stickers and wide wheels). If they don’t the parents also lose street cred, so vanity is not the preserve of youngsters.

I think some of the “Werdonkeys” think that a “Cool” car will make them “Pull women”. I’m sure, in some cases, that it does. I remember Lord Winston (Didn’t know he’d been made a Lord) carried out an experiment (I think it was carried out in New York), where he was dressed up as a pauper with an old banger and then was dressed up more flash and drove a Bentley. He seemed to have more “Pulling” power when he was “Flash” (That said a pratted up Corsa isn't exactly a Bentley). If anyone has ever been to Blackwood in South Wales of an evening, the High Street is well known for prattmobiles parading up and down, windows down with what passes for music blaring from within what passes for a car. So I am told, some travel many miles just to drive up and down Blackwood High Street :-? .

Isn’t it sad to think that people live their lives to impress others  ? Some may say that because my cars are all well kept, it’s a form of vanity. Maybe it is (Is self respect vanity?) but a well kept car will last longer than one which is abused. Both my MGs are nigh on perfect and whilst my Traveller isn’t yet the way I would like it, it’s not bad and I am working on it as time permits. Nevertheless, I am sure most of the people in the street thing of me as the “Poor s*d down the end, with the garage full of old bangers”. Perhaps they assume (People like that don’t think!) that as I cycle to work, it’s because none of the cars are working.

Strangely enough driving classic cars can be a bit like cycling. Other road users make assumptions about you based on their own standards. They neglect their car so anything over about ten years old must be hanging and not capable of more than 30 mph; they are unfit and can’t make a bike do more than 10 mph, so neither can anyone else.

I was driving around Essex a couple of years ago and took a wrong turning. I carried on down the road to find a suitable place to turn around. Passing a bus-stop with a group of chavs hanging around it I was met with laughs and interesting sign language. However after turning round and heading back out from whence I came I accidently drove through the puddle just next to said bus-stop. How careless of me.

Who's laughing now!!
