ok
the front mechanics are the same as saloons also the front wings and doors from a 4 door
thats about really
the bonnet does not have any side flashes or strips
the front bumper blade is shorter and painted ( not available new )
the rear tub, only rear light repair panels and floors available
cills are and front floors are available

check the chassis by hitting gently with a hammer , it wants to make a ringing sound and not a thud, trouble with the chassis is you can not look inside , and the rear end is very prone to rotting out, rear chassis leg sections are available

take some one that knows about pick ups with you

The main difference between the car and van/pickup is that the car does not have a full chassis.
Parts are not particularly expensive, welding and bodywork is. Most parts are available off the shelf or with a bit of searching around.

some parts for pick ups are very rare and when they come up mainly on ebay can fetch quite a few quid

cheers guys, not to bothered about bodywork +painting or mechanics. its the welding side. as you say its expensive. got a mate who can weld, but he does arc welding. will that be ok for the chassis? always wanted to have ago at welding :-? might have to get a mig welder then :( and teach my self.

Arc is too heavy - even for the chassis - but if he can arc weld - he will be able to MIg weld ok. At least you 'can' get a complete new chassis for the p-up - so all will not be lost if you go that route.

Not sure who produces the NEW chassis - but here is the link to the one on ebay at present - the price obviously has a LONG way to go! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fully-Restored-Mo ... 335a9e0acb

As a matter of interst - if this chassis is used to rebuild another vehicle - does the finished vehicle not have to take the original identity of the 'chassis' ? Or - does the identity stay with the 'body' - even though it is known as 'the chassis number' ???
