quarterlight

Post by les »

I've dismantled a quarterlight, removing the glass and rubber insert. When it's reassembled what holds the glass firmly in place?

The very tight fit of the rubber and the frame ! I understand they are very difficult to re-assemble!

Until I got hold of a pair of new old stock quarter lights I was going to stick the glass into the frames with a black neutral cure silicone rubber. I dont think the seals are available.

Fortunately I have a decent seal, but I should imagine 'suspending' the glass in a silicone bed would be an alternative. It would be easier to assemble, certainly worth bearing in mind if the glass is not held firm.
