Hi,
I'm a newbie looking to buy a pick up. Apart from looks, how can I tell a genuine one from a conversion e.g. is there a range of chassis numbers. Plus if someone says the vehicle's had doors from a saloon fitted (hmm!)what should I be wary of?
Cheers

The only common pickup conversion is cutting down the van back. In reality van and pickup bodies are interchangable.
Saloon doors aren't really an issue as they are identical, save the door tops which on delux saloons were stainless steel, whereas on others they were painted (btw, thats 4 door salloon, 2 door versions wont fit)
Some knowledgeable bod will be along shortly with chassis numbers I'm sure....

many vans in the 60`s and 70`s were used to make pick ups
the chassis plate will be mav for a van and mau for a pick up from 1962 onwards

That depends on the year but either on the bulkhead or passenger door
