Are decent 155x14 tyres in short supply then? Or was it only 145's?

Only I'm going to need a couple of 155's in a couple of weeks before the MOT (one's marginal, might pass but I'd rather replace it sooner).

And I'm helping by driving mine every day.

There is no shortage of tyres of any size. Any tyre depot will have 155's and 145's are available from online retailers (not necessarily Minor specialists though'''

AUpickup - I've not looked at them; Jonathon did when he was working on her. Apparently the threads are worn and while new trunions will hold the fort for a while she needs new kingpins.

Thing is, since I'm going to be in abroad-land (with luck) at the end of the year, I want to get her properly sorted, and while good used is a really generous offer, I'm desperately holding out for new. Of course, this does mean getting my DAF properly sorted so it can cover for the minor. I'm nearly at enough parts that I could run the DAF properly now :-)

Having had TWO tyres knifed the other afternoon I can confirm that 155's are readily available in France (ordered late one afternoon from a local tyre place, fitted the next day) but 145s are impossible to come by via a standard dealer.

Price 110 euros for the pair, fitted and balanced.

Luckily where I had parked up - at a local spot where everyone goes dog walking, biking, fishing - the chap close by was at home and he lent me his van to take the dogs home (one's only 3 months old, he couldn't have walked that far) and there was another spare I could use in the cellar to get the trav home.

Grr, I only bought the complete set of five 155s last summer.

On the plus side, at least the oik(s) didn't scrape their knife/screwdriver all over the paintwork.

*blush*

Actually, there are more committee members than people would perhaps think that attend rallies in their Minors. Not all I have to say, but some of us do like to do the 'grass roots' Minoring and get out there. Lou is one that springs to mind.

Of course, more would always be welcome! :D :D

Sorry for the thread Hijack.

Unfortunately I don't seem to remember many when I was a committee member, nor at meetings, but perhaps I am wrong or times have changed.

Just one more hijack, sorry.

I have asked committee members to come on the LEO and to the Southern Regional, but unfortunately this was not to be. Perhaps they would like to join us on MOT-UK?

GAAAHHH!!! :o

'we' hopefully are doing, if we are still welcome.

Erm, I really think this thread should go back to tyres, before Dale gets 'tyred' of it. Eh? Eh? 8) Never mind...

Actually, the last few sets of tyres I have to admit I have bought 'part worn' from Ebay locally. Before that, I bought them from traders at events. There were some for sale at the Midland Regional Rally courtesy of Tom Roy who usually support the Potteries Branch rally too. :D
