HI all,
I fitted a new starter motor to my 1275 engine yesterday but it and it engages and turns and starts the car but then still seems to sometimes stay in mesh with the flywheel. I can sounds really awful but then after 2/3 secs sorts its self out.
I have taken the new starter off to take back to the factors as I assume it is a fault with the starter motor (as when I connected it strait to a battery using jump leads it certainly wasn't spinning the tooth part right up the shaft and then it seemed to jam on the way back) I also wanted to check that both the 1275 and 1098 engine share the same starter motor. I have a type 9 conversion but as far as I remember the flywheel was the 1098 Minor one with the spigot bush fitted to the flywheel.
Cheers, Jeff
