I know where there is a traveller for sale but it is in very poor condition all wood will have to be relaced both front doors floor sections the interior trim carpets etc were in good condition but would be a long job. I already have a 53 sidevalve that i want to do bodywork restoration on this year but at least it is driving now,The car was going for 200 euro just over £200,is it worth the effort will, it be worth much if done, is it better to do a mechanical upgrade at the same time. what are your opinions Just a few pics of the 53 its amazing how a quick blowover can look very good at a distance <br>

I guess it depends if you feel you can afford it. It sounds like you've kind of fallen for the car already

. From what I've seen of travellers for sale at the moment, if it's in good nick, you will get a premium price for it, providing someone wants it obviously.

Ah but you cant see the rust holes on the bottoms of the doors or the front wings because of the sun

To be honest if it needs loads of welding and complete wood (and probably brakes and suspension too) thenI wouldn't pay a penny for it.

As for the interior - a new carpet set will not break the bank and over here it's possible to pick up a complete reasonable interior for under £100 (sometimes much less) so if you can find one that needs much less work for a bit more money you might save a fortune.

I'm with ray complete set of wood about £500ish then all the other work could be a money pit,ok for free then probably worth a go.

Well from the well know supplier on the South Coast is around £1,000 for a complete kit.

I've seen second hand (new) wood and very good old wood go for a song. it can need a hire of a van to collect it though.
But yes - new wood is not cheap. I know it's been possible to get 'seconds' where the grain doesn't match well to save money.
