Im 17 and got insurance on a 2 door saloon with footman james for £997 fully comp.

Give them a ring and they should sort you out.
Holy crabcakes. I'm currently looking for a decent insurer, and the cheapest I've come across is Endsleigh, with a quote of around £1399 third party.
I checked out Footman James, and they state they only insure drivers over 25, I shall have to give them a bell.

If you have any problems contact Liz in our MMOC Derby Office 0332two91 6seven5. She will be happy to help. Footman James/Aon run a Young Drivers Scheme through our Club, but as they are merging sometimes it seem some of their reps dont yet know of the scheme :D

Join the MMOC and then phone them up asking for the MMOC club insurance scheme - this 'should' offer a good discount on the premium for young drivers.

Insurance for young drivers has gone through the roof - however the prices via the club scheme used to be a lot more reasonable.

Just phoned up for a quote, fully comp turns out just over £1k, and Third Party is just over £700, quite an astonishing compared to £1399!

Have you spoken to Liz? That still sounds like one heck of a lot of money :o

Really? :-?
Haven't spoken to Liz, I assumed phoning Footman James would provide me with the same outcome. The quote was based on the assumption of having a full license, rather than my current provisional.

I would speak to Liz, but I would also try as many other insurers that I could get hold of.

To get the Club Discount you have of course to be a member of the Club and quote your membership number.

Did you ask for the MMOC club scheme? If not then those numbers sound fairly typical.

I did ask for the MMOC scheme, I thought £700 was fairly reasonable, but I'm certainly not going to say no to finding a lower quote.

£700 sounds v. good to me taking into account age and driving experience. :D

I would expect you to get fully comp for less than a thousand but maybe I'm getting out of date.

I would have thought so too. At the moment it really pays to shop around for the best deals, for everything.

i tried aon/ footman james and got my discount and it was still very very expensive. ive just got mine through lancaster, im 24 and went fully comp with breakdown cover and had my own valuation and it only cost me £257. ( did have one year no claims aswell) but your a sixteen year old male so to be honest your not gonna get anywhere near that really. my brother had a beetle at sixteen and i think he paid about a grand the first year, as a male its gonna be a rip off until you hit 25.
