as far as i know there are really only 2 types of sender that fit A-series engines.
most expect the standard 10v supply, a few rarer ones expect a 12v supply (early minis had this), they will all work after a fashion just that the 'normal' point on your gauge may be shifted slightly to one side.

The biggest problem is caused by them not being wired in correctly via the voltage reulator at the back of the speedo or putting one of the modern in line ones.Having read the previous thread about the problems with the temp' gauge,
