Drill it out? Alternativly get a bolt or something that is a very close fit, fill spigot hole with grease and fit the bolt in the bearing. Wallop with a big hammer. With any luck the bearing will shoot out.

The grease method worked for me on the first one I did (with difficulty) but not on the second one. I wound up breaking it up with a small chisel instead - the metal is quite soft and brittle.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

If anything like the bronze bush on the relay shaft, it's so soft you can rip it to bits with pliers and a small screwdriver.

I used a corkscrew to get it out when I needed too. As others have said the metal is very soft so it isn't difficult.

Yes, soak it in heavy oil for 24 hours before fitting, or it will fail quickly.

Yes - new bush is 'oilite' - and should be soaked in oil (some say HOT oil) for 24 hours before fitting.

Oilite bushes are impregnated with oil during the manufacturing process.

From their website: "The standard stock range of Oilite bearings is impregnated with a mineral oil SAE 30 viscosity; all machined Oilite bearings and plates are supplied fully impregnated after machining."

It shouldn't do any harm to soak them again but I doubt it will have any effect.

This was certainly true in the past, but maybe things have changed. (NB I don't *know*, just guessing) You'd think they'd mention the need to soak them on their site though

If in doubt... No harm soaking in engine oil, just in case and all that

The bearing you buy from a Minor spares place may not be a genuine 'Oilite' - and even if it is - it may be 30 years old !

Alternatively get a bolt or something that is a very close fit,
With all your spares Dennis dont you have a spare 1st motion shaft its the ideal size and is a good clutch aligning tool as well.
Cheers
