Post by FrankM83 »

I know it's not a Moggy but this car has been standing in a field near me I can't say rotting away beacuse it seems to be made out of aluminium but I have no idea what it is!

sorry for the large image if you want me to resize it just tell me it's big so maybe the details could be a bit more clear Sorry again

Looks left hand drive, judging by where the instrument cluster is positioned.

No rust on the bodywork. Is it an alloy body? That plus sliding windows and the body shape suggests some sort of s sports car import.

No idea!
Cheers, Axolotl.

I thought it might be a Saab - like a 92, but the door pillars are at the wrong angle

I think Frank you need to get a big stick and fight your way through the bushes and see if there are any makers marks on it.
It's crying out to be saved !!! never know you might have yourself a rare find?
Something about it looks really familiar but cant think where i've seen it before.

My guesses are AC, Marcos or that Russian coupe, was it a Tatra or something? I seem to remember it was featured in PC a couple of years ago.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

the car is actually on private property I couldnt get hold of the owner though! also the front is there it's just very much sloping forward and seems to be a whole thing with the body I.e. doesn't have a bonnet but that's a guess of a quick look!

Still a mystery. I have been thinking hard. I dont think its a Tatra. The angle of the A pillar made me think Porsche, but the back end is all wrong for that. Clueless! Not a Saab.

Hello all,

I certainly haven't a clue but don't think any of the other suggestions are correct. Being as it is an aluminium body, it could well be a one off, as there are very few cars that were panelled in aluminium.

Very interseting.

could be Alec as the Old motors club Malta wasn't able to answer the question either, what I'm trying to do now is to find the owner or a neighbour owner of the field and maybe help me out

Hello Frank,

I hadn't noticed the Malta location.

A possible is to send a copy of the picture to Mike Worthington-Williams of The Automobile magazine. He runs a feature on identifying obscure or rare cars.

It's a crashed UFO. Have you spotted any little green men?

Don't know what it is but from the looks of it the rear window originally lifted up to give rear access.
Cheers

Also the line of the front wing looks very steep - that and the presumably one piece rear window is why reckon i've seen it before.
Shall have to have a thumb through some of the old car books later.
