Hmm - I've not looked too hard at the thread (other than to chuckle about how similar your 53 was to my 54 when I got it)...
But now I've taken a close look, I have a question!
What's the big hole under the rear seat? Is that original and if so is it special to some markets or certain ages of Minor?
Most of Mine have been Minor 1000's so I've not seen one of those.

It's no custum rooflining.
