Morris Minor Van JBW506D Almond Green

I bought this van new in 1966 and have fond memories of it.
My Dad worked at the Cowley Pressed Steel Plant and got it at a discouted rate (about £300). I have the receipt somewhere.
It was delivered to Cowley and collected by my Dad with the body still covered in protective wax. I think it had a low compression engine.
I spent ages getting the wax off with white spirit.
Anyone know if it is still in existence?

Wish it had been possible to buy another, I was only earning about £12 per week and just starting out in life.
You could buy a good second hand car in those days for less than a £100 and in fact my girlfriend who now is the lady wife bought me a Ford V8 Pilot in 1965 for £12. Now that is the car I should have stashed away

Makes you wonder what 'new' cars we should be buying and 'coccooning' for the future.
I can't see any modern cars having the appeal a classic car does now - but then people in the 1960s probably felt the same way.

My dad can occasionally be heard mumbling wistfully about the classic bike he sold cheaply in favour of something more practical when I was on the way...

cars for less than £100.00 ah good old days
but even so we only earnt a few pounds a week so all relative really
in another 45 years they will say we could buy a car for less than £3k ah they were the good ole days

everything is still relative

You could still get a taxed, tested car for under £100 at the beginning of the '80s - hence the number of Marinas I owned
