Ouch, that's rough. Puts a damper on the festivities. Hope you find something soon.

Probably not much call for Bouncy Castle artists tho.....maybe time for a change?

Sorry to hear that. You're right, when the company I was working for a few years ago unexpectedly went bust I'd already bought all my Christmas presents in the expectation of being paid at the end of December.

Oh terrible  really feel for you :(
Your absolutely right a fair few do choose the most innapropriate time of year , that or use some national disaster /crisis / state of finances as a scapegoat.
The worst part is they would have seen this coming a while back, suppose its too much to expect a bit of honesty & civility nowadays.
Best of luck finding something else an hope you get a bit of karmic kickback and end up finding something much better !

Think positive. When one door closes, another will open. With your talents, it will be easy to find a new and probably better job. Bad time of year granted, but that's life for ya.

A year ago today I was told I was going to be 'redundant' - best day of my life!! Forced early retirement with a cash pay-off - fantastic!

Thanks for the support guys. Unfortunately, I will only get this month's pay (about seven hundred quid), a week's pay on top in leiu of notice period, and whatever bonuses or unused holiday pay I've got left over, so I doubt it'll be much.

At least I will have time now to break out the brushes and paints and finally do some painting! Pet portrait, anyone? Sorry I can't do cars!:)

Hope all goes well for you. I got laid off many years ago early December (on my birthday as well :o ) and ended up retraining, and as others have said I never looked back.

Just to add, when I took a redundancy package, I started my own business, that was 12 years ago, and now only have to work one day a month. Best decision I ever made.

Made redundant 4 years ago, me. No luck finding more work yet, but health problems make things tricky. All the best to you though - good luck.

Hi sorry to hear your unfortunate news,
I was chief engineer at a bottling company and worked long hours some times until ten at night to make sure the machinery ran smoothly, one year I worked Christmas day and boxing to make sure the machinery was ready to go on start up after the Christmas brake so the company could complete a big order for the 2000 millennium festival and all went well. When I returned back to work after three days off I was then taken into the office and made redundant. (nice company) NOT!

Sorry to hear of your bad luck news, and I cant understand why companies don`t at least give a decent amount of notice at this time of year to at least give people a chance to not go into a spending spree thinking they can pay it off in the New Year, I know that we shouldn`t spend what we haven`t got but thats often easier said than done and is just human nature, anyway here`s hoping for some good luck for you in the New Year :)
Cheers

When I was made redundant, went back to uni... will qualify as a lawyer soon :) Couldnt have been better!

Can use it as the excuse to try something you always wanted to do...

Can do drawings better than paintings, if it's a pet portrait you're after.:)With good photos, lizards shouldn't be a problem.
