What does this engine no mean?

Post by FrankM83 »

Hi all my van has a very strange engine no. (at least to me) : - 10V / 451E / L 3515 any ideas what it mean? Thanks

actually I know the what the 10V means and the E and the L but I'm not sure about the no 451 because I'm assuming 3515 is the engine no so what is the 451? :roll:

10V = 1098 inline
L = low compression as for a van

with a 10V number it would be a fairly new engine (i mean one of last made)

i dont realy now the numbers, i thought the rest were just the sequence built

As you probably know already, the 10Vprefix dates from 1969 but it would b e followed by either 189-E-L (1098cc Low compression with a
dynamo) or 190-E-L ( 1098 Low compression with Alternator). No sign of 451! I also have another reference which says the 10V prefix is found on a 1098cc van with 'controlled breathing' i.e. there is no breather pipe entering the air FILTER casing.
