Re: Garage in Bath/Bristol area for MOT?

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies, they were very helpful. As it is, I finally managed to get hold of Russell so he'll be MOTing it after all. Thank you again though, I'll keep all those places in mind for if he's ever unwell again.

All the best,

Kayleigh

Garage in Bath/Bristol area for MOT?

Hi, I've posted on this topic previously but didn't get much luck with replies so I thought I'd try again. My MOT needs doing by the end of this month and Russell from RTG Service who I usually use is out of action, having just had his back operated on (and won't answer any of my calls, still don't ...

Re: Mobile mechanic in Bath area

Do you know what's wrong with the car? Is it something I could help with or is it a job for a proper professional? Hi, It's ok atm (touch wood!), just having a new radiator fitted near Chesterfield as it started leaking on the journey home for Xmas, but I could do with someone to ring when the inev...

Mobile mechanic in Bath area

Hi, I'm on the look out for a new mechanic for a bit as Russell from RTG Services is recovering from having his back done (at least, I presume that's what he's doing, he's stopped answering my calls so I'm not 100% sure what's happened to him. More than a little worried about him, tbh). Unfortunatel...

Re: Has anyone heard from Russell from RTG Services lately?

Chatting with him earlier and he dosent like you....... No, sorry, I was speaking with him a few months back and he was talking about going in for major back surgery around about now IIRC. So I would think he's either laying low or on the block. Maybe totally wrong but he's a sound chap and wouldnt...

Has anyone heard from Russell from RTG Services lately?

Hi, Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I've been trying to get hold of Russell from rtg for over 2 months now. His phone's working, it's ringing and then going to voicemail, but he's not answered any of my messages. I've tried texts, voicemails, PMing him on here and e-mailing him, nothing. I reme...

Re: Learning basic mechanics - Bath

I'm still looking for someone with a interest in tinkering with cars in their spare time who's willing to teach me how to tinker with mine. Does anyone know anyone like that? Even if you can't get to the Avon branch meetings any more, you've been there a few times so people know you. Have you conta...

Re: Learning basic mechanics - Bath

Thanks very much and I'll definitely check out that garage next time anything goes wrong, especially as the hourly rate looks very good. However, I'm still looking for someone with a interest in tinkering with cars in their spare time who's willing to teach me how to tinker with mine. Does anyone kn...

Re: Learning basic mechanics - Bath

Thanks for all the help, everyone, it's all very good advice. And a new garage would be useful for anything too complicated to be fixed myself. However, I'm the kind of person who learns by being shown what to do, not by reading what to do. So as grateful as I am for all the wonderful ideas you're a...

Re: Learning basic mechanics - Bath

Prehaps not quite what you want to hear, but I expect there is a local college that does adult education on vehicle maintaince / restoration? I've checked Bath, Bristol and Chippenham but nothing that suits my needs (ie, a course about classics, part time and cheap). Thanks for the help though. Kay...

Learning basic mechanics - Bath

Hi, I'm a 21 year old girl who bought a 1967 Morris 1000 around 2 years ago. Basically, my dad's girlfriend loved them, told me how cheap they were to run and maintain, what a lovely character they had, ect. We took a trip around Charles Ware's to have a look at some but they were a lot out of my pr...

Avon meeting?

I'm going to the Avon meeting at the Langton Court Hotel tonight. It's my first time and tbh, I'm a little nervous. Do I have to bring any money with me and if so, how much? And will there be food there or should I have dinner before I go? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Where to put radio speakers?

I'm not sure which forum this should be in since it's not a problem, just advice I need. I'm thinking of having a radio fitted in Molly (1967 Morris 1000). I know I'm having the radio in the glovebox and the aerial on the driver's side wing but I'm not sure where it would be best to put the speakers...

Thanks for your help, everyone. It looks like it was not using the choke/a low tickover. I've started having a little choke on until she's warmed up a bit and when I took her to the garage yesterday about the oil filter and fanbelt, they upped the tickover for me and that's fixed the stalling at lig...

I tend to start on half choke and drop it down once the engine's started. I've always been wary of starting too far out in case I flood the engine. I'm not sure how far I drop it, I do it by engine noise. If she's running comfortably and not threatening to stall, it's low enough. And I push it back ...

Juddering first thing in a morning

I've been having the odd problem with Molly (1967 Morris 1000) for the last 2 mornings. I'm a cleaner who sets off for work at about 6:30am. It's always been fun and games getting her to start first thing (she likes mornings as much as I do  ) and usually she won't start without the choke out b...
