Re: Bonnet support
Since you are on this side of the Atlantic you need a handier parts source. As it happens there is a guy about 10 miles from me that has a lot of Minors and parts stacked in sheds and rusting in the yard. Post a picture of what you have and I will see if I can find what you need. If your bonnet (eng...

Re: Oil Feed Pipe
The Morris Minor Centre do not know what they are talking about. The early Series 2 had the same instrument panel as the Series MM which included an oil pressure gauge. The original pipes were metal and could fracture, delivering engine oil at 60psi all over the engine bay. The standard Smiths oil ...

Re: USHM3 bottom metal water pipe?
Does anyone have a few pics of the water pipe that goes from the pump to the bottom of the rad? I've got some pipes here but the engine is out of the car. If someone has a pipe on the bench it would be handy if they could take some pics set against a ruler so that I can gauge the bends. I'm fairly ...

Re: Raising and Lowering a 1967 Convertible Top
Hi, I just purchased a 1967 Convertible from a person who almost never raised the convertible top. The instructions in the operator's manual are not very clear. Does someone have detailed instructions on how to raise and lower the convertible top? Does the metal support for the top attach on the wi...

Since you are, in a sense, betting your life on it I would say that a new master cylinder is a pretty small investment.

Re: chassis leg difficulty?
Is the leg otherwise sound? If it is then it would be easier just to "pull" the dent out. Body shops do it all the time on panels. If it's already rusty, of course, get a replacement or maybe a pair. Once you start looking for it you will probably find more trouble than you bargained for. ...

Sorry I didn't answer this a bit sooner but I have been anticipating eye surgery (It's done now for one eye) and not keeping up with my email. I'm definitely interested in your project and would like very much to have the correct knob for my 1950 MM. As for your potential market, I would think you m...

Have a look at this [url]http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=40398/url] thread.
As I write you have about half a day to get in a good bid and buy it for a lot less than either of those dealers is likely to want.

I just imagined they would be supplied - 'ready to fit'. Obviously a few squirts with the grease gun....... Is this not the case ? I have bought and fitted that kit from BM and it comes as separate parts, not assemblies. It is only a few minutes work to assemble them and that way you know they have...

Like a new car!
The front suspension on Millicent, my 1950 MM Tourer, had been sounding a bit loose and noisy so I decided to investigate. On disassembly I found the rubbers showed some external signs of cracking/perishing but none were severely worn. The last service the suspension on this car had was more than 50...

Re: Which engine is this??
Good eye Rob,
That water jacket, whatever it is, would interfere with a straight oil filler pipe. I wonder how many other cars used the 918 or a variant of it? I always thought it was just Morris.

Re: Which engine is this??
Correction. The engine fitted in the car is a type USHM3 with a blanking plate at the front for a water pump but with a USHM2 cylinder head. It also appears to have a bit of old exhaust pipe for an oil filler pipe (improvisation). The correct pipe and cap can be seen in fussyoldfart's photo. Here i...

Re: Which engine is this??
The engine you have fitted is a 918cc side valve type USHM2 which is the early engine and the correct one for your car. The carb is an SU H1, 1 1/8 in. There should be an accelerater cable stop bracket located in the two holes in front of the dizzy. The new reg docs are wrong. There should be a bra...

Does anybody know where you can get exhaust gaskets to suit a sidevale Morris Minor? Or material that is suitable so I can cut them myself? ESM seem to be out of stock...... Hello Oliver, I have a de-coke set (HSB 198, ESM part# SV107) that includes the exhaust manifold gasket. Re: (hedgerow find) Help with year for my morris minor
The rear bumper with the bridging piece in the middle would indicate that this is a fairly early Series MM. But the APHM in the engine number makes it a Series II with an 803cc A series engine. I have mislaid the book that tells me when they went to a one piece bumper but I thought it was prior to t...

Re: MM Series service advice - Back to the roads again
If you search "shock absorbers" on this forum you will find lots of previous references but, in general, a straight 20 weight oil is recommended and, yes, the shock should be full.
