Thanks for all the great info chaps! I would have thought that if steam was coming out then the water was too hot. The hoses are perfect, I have flushed the engine out using a hose connected to the bottom water inlet and seen clear water pour out of the thermostat housing (with the thermostat out). ...

I haven't replaced the radiator cap - it looks OK but then I guess you can't tell between a good one and a bad one.

The radiator is fine.

I need to check the pump - that's on my definite list. I think there was an article in a previous club magazine.

Well, there's steam coming out from under the bonnet and water [Don't swear or you will be banned - Admin] out from the radiator (that doesn't normally leak). It's like the engine has been converted into a giant kettle!

What would you call it?

Thanks!

I was searching for the water pump but have since discovered it is behind the fan somewhere (engine overheats and I have checked everything else).

What's that!?

On the driver side of my engine, underneath the spark plugs, there is a large upright metal cylinder bolted to the engine with a metal pipe also connecting to the engine and a single electrical wire connecting to the top. What is it? Any clues? It's not the fuel, water or oil pump so far as I know. ...

Front Brake Cylinder Small Bolt Head Size

Hi, I am trying to remove the front brake cylinders but don't have a socket to fit the small bolt that holds the cylinders in place (as well as a larger 1/2" bolt).

Does anyone know the correct Whitworth or AF size please? It's 8.5mm across the flats.

Thanks for the advice.

I managed to get one of the rear wheel bearing oil seals out with brutal violence but am waiting for the rain to stop before doing the other.

Any pointers, hints and tips about getting the oil seals out of the hubs? I have a bearing kit with new seals. The old ones seem stuck in!

Cheers!

Whilst "down there" doing all this lovely mucky work (I finally have the handbrake working, have to do the bleeding next) , I noticed that the right leaf-spring suspension main (longest) part is broken! Should I replace both sides? I have ordered new bearing kits and the large socket. Than...

From what I can see, the handbrake is purely mechanical. Now that I have replaced the rear slave cylinders, I can still spin the rear wheel hubs by hand with the handbrake on. I guess this means I need a new cable? (I have turned the little adjuster screw fully clockwise in both rear brakes. and adj...

Not sure really. Yellowish sticky slippery stuff was sort of all over the brake innards. I have replaced the slave cylinder and will try getting some brake fluid into it and then see what happens. Thinking about it, I am not sure if it was brake fluid though. Is there an easy way to breed the brakes...

Re: Rear Wheel Brakes and Bearings on E-reg Traveller

Thanks very much for that info! I'll hold off on the wheel bearings then until I hear it rumble. I have to save my money for a new floor and rear doors!

Cheers!

Rear Wheel Brakes and Bearings on E-reg Traveller

I am working on my rear wheels. The left rear brake doesn't work at all, either with the foot or hand and when I pulled the wheel and drum off I found it saturated in brake oil. The slave cylinder doesn't move at all even though fluid is being pumped into it. I have ordered pattern replacement ones ...

Traveller Doors (1967)

My Traveller's rear doors are in very poor condition. The glass and aluminium panels seem OK but the wood is very bad. Should I buy the wood and try and repair them or is there perhaps someone out there with a pair of doors for sale?

Leaky Windscreen Corners! '67 Traveller.

My new '67 Traveller leaks water in through the lower corners.

Is there anything I can do or do I have to change the windscreen seals (which sounds like a horrendous job!).
