Very Important Petition ....... sign today
Hello All, Apologies if this has been discussed ..... I don't visit here very often, but this is a very important petition to register our feelings about any plans to limit or restrict the use of classic vehicles. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Classic-Cars/ We need to make it clear that this would not ...

Wings'n'things
I'm not sure if this post will survive or if it will invoke the wrath of the moderators but I have thought about it for a few days and decided; a. I would like to know if others have had problems? b. possibly be of help to other owners facing the decision A while back I posted asking about repair pa...

Contrary to popular belief, it is as easy as celly to use No, sorry it isn't. I have been painting for pushing 35 years and would go back to celly in a flash if it was possible to get the modern colours. The only aspect which is easier is achieving metallic finishes using clear over base but the ap...

Michael, I'm with chickenjohn on this one. Far better to wait for a nice warmish dry spring day before you do your painting. If you really must do it now wait for a nice dry day (not damp at all) and use cellulose, its far more forgiving for inexperienced painters. If there is any damp around it wil...

Roger, with reference to your first question AFAIK toughened glass was changed to zone toughened so that when the screen smashed the zone directly in the drivers line of sight broke into basically bigger fragments so that some forward visibility was maintained. If you look at a zoned screen in the r...

Steve, I too am interested in rust prevention and would also be interested in any opinions forum members might have? I have always been a bit sceptical about magic paints which claim all sorts of rust killing properties but FWIW .......... The POR-15 anti-rust primer has been around quite a while an...

I'll post some before and after shots when I get a bit further. Unfortunately time is limited and progress is fairly slow. As a general philosophy I think it's good to retain as much of the original car as possible and as it's lasted 50 years it must have been built out of decent steel :) I'm loathe...

Before doing that, set to your rear floor pan on both sides with wire brush on grinder. If it survives, trim the new panel. When I did one of these rear floor edge panels, the extra bit was needed as the rear floor pan near the sill was pin holed and thin! I have already repaired the floor pan. My ...

Rear floor edge panel .................silly question?
Folks, I was about to weld my rear floor edge panel onto the trav' (Hadrian panel) and was wondering if it should be so wide? Should it overlap the floor to such an extent or should it attach along the edge of the floor in the same way the front section does? I wondered if it has been made wider bec...

Period radios come up often on Ebay, if you do a search for the better names such as Motorola or Radiomobile you should find what you are looking for. Do bear in mind that most of the earlier radios from the sixties and seventies are MW and LW only. There are companies around who will convert them b...

Flying, I was just looking at your excellent pictures trying to work out how the area around my rear floor and floor extension panel (around the spring hanger) should look and it struck me how clean you are managing to get the original steel on the car. Surely that is not just wire brush on a grinde...

Several of the lads I know in the classic bike world have abandoned twin carbs for the sake of ease of maintenance, smoother running and economy. Interestingly one chap has taken the twin Amals off his Commando and fitted a single SU. He says it performs just as well but the improvement in economy i...

FWIW I'd say don't fit them :o You will gain nothing in power over a sensible size single carb and it will certainly use more fuel and not run so well. I'm sure others with much more knowledge of these matters will be able to suggest the perfect carb if you supply your engine spec'. Are you listenin...
