I have been reading the Haynes Restoration Manual ( Lindsay Porter)
I know there have been some questions asked about the acuracy of this volume, but here are a few nuggets.
1) Windscreen. This was changed to Zone Toughened in 1963, but what was it before? Just toughened or perhaps not toughened? If the later screen is safer I will try and find one before I refit the old one on Sophie.
2) Washers. These were fitted on Deluxe models from 1961. Do earlier or basic models not have washers? This would explain my period mod washer, but not that the inner wing has the three screw holes for fitting the washer bottle.
3) Tyres. Series MM and series II are discribed as 5.00 x 14 and Morris 1000 from 1956 as 5.00 x 14 Tubeless. Is this true? My late minors have never had tubes and I was wondering if I should fit them?

Roger, with reference to your first question AFAIK toughened glass was changed to zone toughened so that when the screen smashed the zone directly in the drivers line of sight broke into basically bigger fragments so that some forward visibility was maintained.
If you look at a zoned screen in the right light you can actually see the patterns.
Don't know when they were first fitted to Minors
