Re: Help with gearbox issue
Thanks @Classiccars - its definitely not near the handbrake and is something internal to the gearbox I am afraid. Phil - you could be right about the synchro hub. I have been speaking to a very good gearbox specialist who works on these gearboxes and said the same. Advised that it could be a broken ...

Re: Help with gearbox issue
Just a further update to say I took the car out for a short distance this evening - still not had time to further investigate mechanically.
Car is now flat out refusing to go into fourth - all other gears are working perfectly with no noise. Mystery deepens.

Re: Help with gearbox issue
Thanks again Phil - really appreciate the help! The clutch is standard mechanical - all running gear is standard 1098 on the car. I did check the clutch pedal slack and have about 1.5 inches as per spec and pedal sits up nicely so I did not take it any further at that time. I took a mental note to a...

Re: Help with gearbox issue
Thanks Phil - that looks like a good plan. Have not got to it yet today. Might be tomorrow or later this evening. I suspect an issue with the selector arm/shaft on 3/4 might be the most likely issue. Car has always had good positive tight selection on gears with no sloppiness but I will check the ge...

Help with gearbox issue
1966 Morris 1000 with reconditioned gearbox and less than 2000 miles on it. Looking thoughts from anyone familiar with these gearboxes. Up until now gearbox was working fine with no bad noises and smooth gearchanges. Was out for brief spin yesterday and all going well until on the way home went to f...

Best product for oxidised original paintwork
Hi all, 1966 2 Dr saloon still sporting the original Trafalgar Blue factory paint. Paint is remarkably well preserved and still very intact with exception of a very odd spot that will need some further attention at some point. Paint is good on the whole but appears lightly glazed or oxidised through...

Re: Rear Side Window rubbers fitting query oversized?
@stuffedpike20 - thanks I had wondered that myself but the convertible rubber comes in two separate pieces - consisting of an L shaped piece and then a top rubber so it is different altogether. Mine is all in one piece and the part no with it is correct for 2 dr Morris 1000 saloon. Just realised tha...

Re: Rear Side Window rubbers fitting query oversized?
Thanks for the reply. The 3 corners are reinforced in the seal itself and I would not be for cutting and rejoining it to shorten it or messing with it that way. The width of the rubber itself is not an issue and in fact this photo is showing the wrong side of the profile showing on the outer side - ...

Rear Side Window rubbers fitting query oversized?
Hi all, Looking for some advice please - I have just ordered new rear side window rubbers x 2 for my 1966 Morris 1000 2 Door. First thing I noticed on a comparison with the windows still in the car was that the rubbers appear to be oversized and too long. They measure 1 inch longer in length and abo...
