Re: Wider wheels
Wider wheels were available on the van for those carrying the heaviest loads… nothing to do with ride or handling. For sure, I appreciate this. I was merely wondering if there were any additional benefits coincidentally as a result of using the wider wheels? For example, would replacement tyres, be...

Re: Wider wheels
Brilliant replies, thank you so much. The current Tyres could well be a contributing factor to the slightly uncomfortable ride quality, as they very definitely pre-date my ownership. We have an MOT booked for two weeks time and I imagine the tyres will come up lacking somewhat in the advisories. I w...

Wider wheels
Hello! Now that Henry the traveller is back on the road, and I am rediscovering the joy of driving him, I was wondering about wider wheels as I believe the 8cwt minor van wheels are a direct swap with no detrimental effects on the speedo or fouling of the wheel arches. I will probably end up using H...

this is the fuel pump and the dodgy pvc fuel hose Hi, I've attached a link below to some E10 proof fuel hose for you. Best wishes, Mike. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265291462525?var=565229362106&_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20211130125621%26meid%3D60...

Re: Fuel pumps
Okay thank you, it sounds like I need to get the pump apart to check the points and give them a gentle tickle with the emery paper. Also to disconnect the pipe at the carb and see what the fuel being pumped looks like: full of rusty particles or clear and pure. I’ll have to try and do this after wor...

Re: Fuel pumps
Thanks for all your replies. I’ve been out working all day so haven’t had a chance to do anything on Henry, although I have just started him up and gone for another short test drive. As it was yesterday, we lasted a couple of miles before the fuel pump conked out. Luckily with my trusty hammer at ha...

Re: Fuel pumps
Thankyou all for your replies. I think the first thing is to discover whether mine is currently electronic or points based. As said, for the £30 I was charged for it, I think we can definitely say it is a reproduction part rather than original. The black band of tape does sit around what appears to ...

Re: Fuel pumps
Ah okay, thank you.
I’ll check it out and confirm electronic or points.
Either way, it definitely isn’t an SU so I think I would like to change and get a better genuine one.

Re: Fuel pumps
I would recommend you get a genuine SU AUA 66 and for peace of mind and reliability go for the electronic version. The electronic versions are polarity sensitive so you need to get the correct positive or negative earth version for your car. The fact that hitting the pump got it working again for a...

Fuel pumps
Hi, Having got my Traveller 'Henry' back from what turned out to be a complete engine and gearbox rebuild last weekend, I'm having a few fuel pump issues. He was away for the best part of 5 months, and once the engine was reinstalled and fired up, apparently the fuel pump failed. (I have no idea whe...

Re: Adding ethanol to petrol.
Leaving that aside, I have read many reports that people using E10 & making long trips, have had suffered a severe drop in MPG, presumably because the engine must draw more fuel to achieve the same distance it would have achieved on pure petrol. On my daily modern driver, with it's MPG computer...

Re: Sensible upgrades ??
I'm watching this thread with interest! My '67 Traveller is currently away having a plethora of oil leaks sorted (plus head gasket, suspension adjustment to level it up, and numerous other little niggles that it came with). It already has a brake servo fitted, and I'm not unhappy with the all round ...

Wow, that really is stunning.
One day I hope Henry will look that tidy (I have a good base to work from though, so fingers crossed)
I'm envious of the engine bay, you could eat your dinner of yours!

Re: Interior courtesy light: 1967 Traveller
You can’t switch it off. To drain the battery you’d have to leave the door open all day. More important is the wattage of bulb fitted. Brilliant, thank you for confirming, no 'off' position. I'll just get a replacement (hopefully not a cheap new chinese, but original in good nick) as mine is crumbl...

Re: Interior courtesy light: 1967 Traveller
I don't think any of the Minor interior lights ever had an "off" position. If you need to leave the car for some time with a door open, just pull the fuse - or disconnect the supply wire from the fusebox? PS: I did purchase one of those new reproduction lights for one of my cars. It was c...

Re: Interior courtesy light: 1967 Traveller
Thanks for the photo. That's the same as in my '57 MM. The switch on mine has three positions. Tom M. In fairness, mine feels like it has three positions, but none of them are 'off'! I was told by the chap who is going to be doing some engine work on the Traveller, that there is no 'off' position, ...

Re: Interior courtesy light: 1967 Traveller
Scrooge - could you post a photo of the internals of your interior light? We could tell from that if you have a later MM fixture, or perhaps something different. Thanks. Tom M. Hi Tom, thanks for the reply. These are the photos I’ve just taken of the interior light. I think it’s correct for a 67? 9...
