Fuel pumps

Okay thank you, it sounds like I need to get the pump apart to check the points and give them a gentle tickle with the emery paper. Also to disconnect the pipe at the carb and see what the fuel being pumped looks like: full of rusty particles or clear and pure.
I’ll have to try and do this after work sometime this week.
I had hoped to drive Henry into work for a few days, but the issue of the fuel starvation would make it more of a challenge I think, and run the risk of having to get the hammer out every couple of miles.

You don't have to actually dismantle the pump to clean the points, just remove the cap after unscrewing the terminal nut that holds the live wire in place and the nut and washer beneath it. Then the cap will come off to reveal the points. It will be obvious when you come to do it. The hitting with a hammer is only a get-you-home solution and shouldn't be done too often. It’s a 10 minute job to clean the points and check the electrical connections. 5 minutes once you’ve done it once. Get a head torch and you can do these jobs anytime (keep it in the glovebox).

I've not used R9 before, although I used to use R7 on my campervan before changing to the 'Fit and Forget' 100% resistant Bio fuel hose. Its a lot more expensive than your link - but on a VW camper a lot of the hose is out of sight, and the petrol tank is next door to the engine! I'll get some of the R9 in your link, at least the hose is visible in the Morris engine bay and easy to keep an eye on.

Could someone please tell me the internal diameter measurement of the hose I need from the fuel pump to the carburettor? The link above is for 8 mm internal diameter, but it is very loose. I assume it should be a smaller diameter than this?. 5.6 mm maybe?
