Re: Adjustable oil pressure relief valve

Looks good Phil.
Does it leak oil past the adjuster screw?
I suppose the diameter of the ballbearing/spring cup is the same as the standard pressure valve?

Re: How to repair a damper

For the front damper seals just search for 29x39x5 NBR. Several online shops including 123bearings.eu.

Re: Oil filter "washer"

I did the spin-on conversion and had to bend the feed pipe a few mm to nicely fit. Also I used the now redundant blocked-filter-wire for a temperature gauge https://www.morrisminorspares.com/search/temperature with the sender in the hole in the block near the thermostat. Plus I now have free control...

Re: Silencer in the middle.

One of the several exhaust/silencer systems fitted to my Minor was from a MG Midget with the silencer at the rear. The exhaust pipe passed under the rear axle which never caused any problems. The Midget front pipe was cut short to connect up with the Minor exhaust just in front of the original Mino...

Silencer in the middle.

Does anybody know why the silencer is in the middle of the exhaust pipe and not at the end? Would like to replace it to the rear.

Ignition retarded?

I know that if the ignition advance is insufficient, there is a chance of overheating and a sluggish engine. But now I also read that a bottom end rumble can be a symptom?

Re: Pinion oil seal

Chris, I'm puzzled. As is often mentioned in his forum and due to new ball bearings having different measurements, you need special measuring equipment and engineers blue marking compound whenever the crownwheel is disturbed? Could you plaese tell us which measurements did you take and where you bou...

Re: Pinion oil seal

IMG_20200515_110642.jpg Photo is upside down. No idea why :D . One way to loosen the pinion nut. The bar bolted to the flange is a tie bar but I saw also a piece of angle bar with a hole drilled in it being used. The end of the pipe rests on top of the leaf spring. Use a pipe on your T-bar also. It...

Re: Tappet chest cover - confusion

I agree with Stephen, the PCV was originally designed to reduce or stop oil leaks from engines which were past their best through a positive crankcase ventilation. In the pre-polution era :)

Ok. So it is not that the rear brakes grip much later than the front disks than with all round drums.

Top hat removal brake master cylinder

So the top hat is needed to maintain residual pressure for the drum brakes. If I remove it after a disc brake conversion, what will be the effect on the rear drum brakes?

No, these syringes don't have a seal because a seal can't be sterilised, and also the syringes were/are reused

Re: Lubricating rear leafsprings

So it seems oil on NEW springs improves the ride and oil on OLD springs makes them to soft (or to soft under load) ?
