Drunketh, I think you will probably find that there aren't many engines man enough for our Derbyshire peaks! Petrol does only have a limited amount of energy associated with it. As you say, reductions in aerodynamic drag and better oils lubricating tighter tolerances will play a large part in improv...

Matt, You need to take into consideration the size of your planned engine, the K-series being not much bigger than the A-series or Fiat Twin cam. The Ford lumps are bigger and heaver, especially the pinto consisting of a cast iron block and head, the zetec has aluminium head bolted to a cast iron bl...

That's a lot of work for 1100/1300 engine! I drove a mini 1.3i this afternoon, not exactly earth shattering performance, had a cool opening roof though:)

oops my apologizes Jonathon! A cunning plan? Sounds most intriguing. Do tell, though I hope it’s not another 300 bhp Rover v8, that would frighten the pants off me! Michael, I don't think anyone would advise you to buy a Rover!..... I'll get my coat..... Bmcecosse, I Admit it wouldn't be much ...

:) thanks for the support chaps! There’s a place for the originals but there’s also space for some modified cars too (didn't Richard Hobbis say that on Top Gear?):) What I think doesn't do the minors any favors are bad modification! AWC cough cough. I think if a full chassis is need it might be bett...

Haha I don't know but I guess we will find out! I like the idea of working from 1 donor car (minus engine), parts are cheap and readily available. I think I'm a bit put off of bolt on style upgrades, the last car I had was terrible (not built by me!) in fact I thought it was a bit dangerous. I know ...

ford sierra suspension/brakes

Hello there, I've been thinking this last week about a fairly cheap (if not time consuming) way of improving the minor's suspension and brakes. How about using the running gear from a Ford Sierra? It would seem that one can be bought of for a couple of hundred quid, complete with LSD and rear discs....

Humm, All food for thought. I don't know about a bike engine though, I know its well tried and tested in various kit cars and minis but the moggy is a bit bigger than most of these. I don't think it would be much fun to drive around town in. How about rather than changing the morris' running gear si...

frond wheel drive morris...... don't hit me!

Hi all, I've been off work all week with evil tooth ache and thoughts have once again returned to morris minors! Would I be castrated by the minor community for for fitting a front wheel drive engine and 'box into a minor? Something like a vtec or saab turbo? I know it would be a lot of work buildin...

Remembered!
"KAD" do a 16v head for the A-series!! http://www.kad-uk.com/engine.htm :)
Personally I fancy a Saab 9000 2.3T in the boot :) brum brum. I think a space frame chassis and a few other minor mods would be needed though:)

Do you mean just using the cylinder head? do the bits line up? Would be most surprised if they did!! There are a couple of people how make twin cam cross flow heads for the A-series, very expensive though! but if you've got the pennies why not? I read an article in one of the Kit car mags about a 7-...

It is indeed an AWC car!!
I paid nearly £4K for it and only done 1000 miles are so. i think it's worth £1500 considering the cost of reproduction.. If that sounds like something you could deal around pm me and i'll give you my number.
Cheers

Hi Darren,
which rad are you using?
Has this problem suddenly come on? - Would indicate a blockage in the system, faulty water pump/thermostat, head gasket gone.... Leak!
Maybe it's just this warm weather!!!

twin cam not playing ball

Hi all, It’s been a cold winter for the twin cam mog! After failing to repair the brakes it’s been sitting in the garage neglected – I replaced the master cylinder but I think I managed to strip the thread and cause a tiny leak of brake fluid! Well that’s what I think I’ve done? I’m thinking of sell...

I'd be warry Steve, I've brought some real "quality" items of ebay!
Though their feedback is pretty reassuring

They don't accept COD as payment. Doesn't mention haddock though!
