I've completed my 1098 engine rebuild and had the idea of running the engine out of the car thus searching for oil leaks etc.
I didn't want to connect a water supply at this stage.
Is this a good idea?
If so how long would you say would be safe without damaging the newly built engine?

Engine breather
Chaps I've just about completed my first 1098 engine rebuild and have purchased a refurb end rocker cover. You can see my predicament the rocker cover had a breather to the carb and the tappet chest cover also has a breather. What do you recommend please . Regards Colin[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbi...

Re: Distributor drive replacement
That's fantastic
Thank you, I just didn't want to replace the engine and find out it was way out of timing.

Re: Collett clips
Thanks mate
That's what I thought. They appear to be self anchoring with pressure from the print but wasn't quite sure.

Distributor drive replacement
Chaps
I'm rebuilding my 1098 and have got to the distributor drive insertion. The workshop manual appears to contradictive it says insert with the larger segment uppermost then it says insert with larger segment to the bottom.
Do any real engineers know which way it fits please?
Regards colin

Collett clips
Hi chaps
I'm currently refurbishing my 1098 engine and after having the head and valves done I've list the collett spring clips.
Have you any ideas on alternatives as these are hard to come by.
Thanks

Duplex chain conversion
I've fitted a duplex timing chain together with new cogs. I've countersunk the two studs which would foul the crank cog. I think I've done everything ok but. After I fit the oil thrower and felt washer the timing cover appears to too shallow to fit. Ant advice would be very welcome. Colin[frame] htt...
