Re: Top link pivot pin
The male taper of the top trunnion pin is designed to be a very tight fit into the female taper of the damper arm. One of the reasons it has a very shallow taper. I have just replaced the two ex factory top trunnion pins in the damper arms for the later UNF threaded type which in my opinion are bett...

Re: Tightening track rod ends
My advice is do not use the Nyloc self locking nut on the initial tightening but use a plain nut. When the male taper is tight in the female taper remove the plain nut and fit a self locking nut. The resistance of the Nyloc self locking nut insert can easily overcome the resistance to turn for the m...

Re: Slave cylinder
The orientation of the seal in your photo above is correct in that the concave faces into the cylinder. The operating rod (No: 16 in the link below) sits into the outward facing concave of the metal piston. See link below for how the assembly (No: 10) goes together:- https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/en...

Re: 1958 Tourer Rear Axle and Diff Removal
Whilst you are going to have the axle casing vapour blasted I would advise anyone against having the bare axle casing grit blasted. If you must have the axle casing grit blasted the axle casing must be tightly sealed to stop any grit getting inside the axle casing. I am in the process of replacing m...

Re: Clonk on Braking
The two countersunk screws holding the drum in place also do another job - they keep the drum central on the hub. The wheels hold the drum to the hub but do not hold the drum central so the screws must be done up tight. If you have difficulty with the Philips headed screws fit high tensile countersu...

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings
If you have C3 bearings you will have play. If the bearing are C3 they will be stamped/marked C3. C3 bearings have more clearance so resulting in the ability to generate play. The main thing is that when the half shaft is fitted do you have noticeable play i.e. the ability to rock the wheel ? Latter...

Re: Removing inner wheel bearing
With a blow torch gently warm the adapter sleeve. The adapter sleeve will expand and come loose whilst the stub axle remains the same. Been there and done that quite a few times now. The adapter sleeve needs to be removed as they are out of stock at ESM. It should be noted that ESM bought the remain...

Re: Stainless Pancake Air Filter
I did suggest that you run the engine without the stub stack. Taking out the foam will have no effect if the outer face of the stub stack is too close to the lid of the pancake filter body. Normally a plain pancake air filter without the stub stack fitted will not cause problems though you may have ...

Re: Stainless Pancake Air Filter
I would suggest that you ditch the bling and go back to as per factory air filter installation
That stub stack is too deep and is restricting the flow of air into the carb.
You could remove the stub stack and re-fit the air cleaner and see if it makes any difference.

I suspect that you have not allowed enough clutch pedal linkage clearance.
The clearance must be checked on a regular basis.

Re: Stainless Pancake Air Filter
Fitting the pancake air filter may and most likely will effect the mixture so you need to check that. When fitting the stub stack and the pancake air filter is not deep enough the flow of air into the carb will be restricted so strangling the engine. Bling is alright but it has to be done with some ...

Armstrong front damper top lid gasket
If you are looking to replace the front Armstrong damper top lid gasket here is a link to a supplier. There may be other suppliers but this is the only one I can find at the moment. The gaskets already supplied to me for similar Armstrong dampers are superbly made. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3885299...
