5th piston ring
Evening I got a 1098cc engine, been bored out to +20. Im doing an engine rebuild, whilst my bores are ok, i rehoned them to take away the glazing before i fit new piston rings. I cant seem to find the set of 5 piston rings, only the set of 4. I ordered two sets of 4 rings instead hoping to use both ...

Thanks everyone for replies. Will try and feed power to each lamp/holder individually and see what happens, and work back from that. The wiring is a mess and complete bonkers, as i found 2 wires joined together using insulating tape :o makes me wonder what else has been bodged I will report back wit...

Ok thanks, But the stalk is still flashing, but when i connect the terminals together nothing happens, apart from the stalk flashing?

When i moved the indicator arm.
But couldn't repeat this again, even with indicator arm down or not.

Finally got round to testing out the indicators...............
And when i connected those to wires togehter i got one glow for a second and nothing ever since

No response then on the 'test' without a flasher can and all the wires set together........ This will tell us what's actually going on. Havent had the time/weather to go and sort this out yet! Im hopefully trying to sort this out this afternoon, but my other car has now developed an electrical faul...

Ok many thanks for your replies The car currently has trafficators installed but are Not working. And on the front has combined sidelights and indicators, with traveller style rear lights. I changed the flasher can as originally nothing worked at all. No stalk tell tale, No flashing outside what so ...

Indicator gremlins!
Hi all Have replaced my indicator flasher unit (the can thing) today as the indicators didn't work at all. Replaced it and still nothing at all, all i get is the tell tale light flashing in both left/right. :cry: I have no indicators front or rear, and the bulbs in the front are new and been tested....

No luck. Ok thanks BMC,
I have changed the plugs leads etc, but havent got round to the oily bits as it didnt run so i couldnt warm the engine up.
Hopefully costic soda will unblock the head and all be fine

Um ive only just acquired the traveller and by the looks of things, it hasnt been serviced for at least 5years, as the plugs where black (i mean very black) and everything seemed to be worn out like the points, rotor arm etc. I did notice that 3 out of 4 HT leads where melted and sort of stuck onto ...

Will make sure its flushed out a couple of times. Ive read that you need to wear gloves goggles etc as its nasty.
If it dissolves away, then im going to ask father xmas for new ones

Sorry i forgot to mention, i have been poking and prodding with wire and screwdrivers, and not even a trickle. Ok thanks BMC thats tomorrows job and aswell as brakes.

Again thanks everyone for the help. Went over today(as the car isnt currently home but not far away) i managed to start her up. With fresh fuel, oil down each spark plug, cleaned the points and rotor arm, cleaned and checked the fuel pump was pumping, spun her over for ten seconds and she sparked in...

DO you think its necessary to replace all the gearbox oil, diff oil etc?
