Re: Morris Minor workshop needed Bristol area
I can also recommend Russell from RTG. He has worked on my cars for the past 18 months and he is always thorough and thoughtful. He is also very fair with his charges and is outstandingly honest.

Re: Odometer stuck on 000000 after going round the clock
Thanks for all the helpful comments and sorry to say it's not been wound back. I know this because I have complete FSH as the car had one owner for 38 years and it's possible to check the mileage very accurately. At least I've got some idea of what to do now. Thanks for your offer, Charlie - my emai...

Odometer stuck on 000000 after going round the clock
This week I just bought this lovely Traveller which I'd always dreamed of and had it delivered on a transporter. It was showing 99999 on the clock and tonight we did about 8 miles but nothing's shifting away from all the 0s. Any ideas please? Is this what should happen and do we need to do something...

Re: Austin Minor???
Just to confirm the existence of Austin Minors, here's ours. I was looking to buy a Traveller when this one came up and we've owned it for about a year now. By the way, does anyone know of any other XJU ... J reg survivors? I saw one on eBay in December, which was a very near number to ours, but don...

Re: Pick up Restoration (Part 2)
Pleased to see you got the correct spanner for this job. When having work done on my van during the summer, this is what we discovered. Obviously done by someone with absolutely no idea of what they were about or prepared to pay for the spanner.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1292797031_1...

Re: V5C shows PLG
Dare I say "don't worry too much"? I found the DVLA quite amenable when I had a problem with my V5 after buying my van earlier this year. Obviously I hadn't looked carefully enough on purchase, because what was the chassis number on the V5 actually turned out to be the engine number and it...

LEDs
I run a 1971 Minor van and am aware how insignificant the rear lights are in modern traffic. I wondered about fitting LED bulbs instead of conventional ones to brighten up the lights. Has anyone else done this and, if so, where did you buy the bits and pieces? Looking on the internet, the majority ...

Re: Rust found on inner rear 'humps' — advice needed, please!
We're finding this post very relevant, particularly the statement by Moggiefan - "Some people should just save everyone a lot of heartache and hard earned cash and do things properly in the first place!". I bought my restored van in February, and very smart it is. Even more so now it has ...

Re: XJU 848J. Leicester area.Blue Austin van. Where has it been?
Thanks for your suggestions MarkyB, Pyoor Kate and Kevin. I took your hint and contacted a couple of previous keepers based on the addressed on the old documents. Whereas I haven't found anything of great significance, I did get two responses. One was from the van's keeper in the early 80s, who sent...

Re: blue seal engine
Whilst not directly connected to blue seal engines, I am interested to see the explanation of the different parts of the engines numbers. What is the significance of 189E and the preceding letter to the final series of numbers? Mine is prefixed with an L. I would be grateful if someone could enlight...

Re: Attack on my Morris Minor
Very sad to hear about this. It just goes to show that Minors have moved into a completely different bracket - whereas they used to be workhorses, family cars and 'bangers', they now seem to be objects of envy or worth stealing for whatever reason. Five months ago we went back to Minors after a 30 y...

Re: XJU 848J. Leicester area.Blue Austin van. Where has it been?
Thanks for your phone directory suggestion. I found one online and traced one of the previous owners. The others are not there - perhaps they're XD. This was such an obvious idea - can't think why I didn't think of it myself, but that's what is so good about the MMOC site. Let's hope the other owner...

Re: XJU 848J. Blue Austin badged van. Where has it been?
Thanks, Kevin, for replying. I sent my fiver to the DVLA and last week, two months later, I got the details of the previous keepers. However, the chances of them being at the same addresses are not high, so I was hoping that perhaps some MMOC members in the Leicester area might have some recollectio...

Thanks for all your considered replies. I thought it was going to be difficult because I didn't have the key's serial number, but I successfully had a duplicate key cut today.

Searching for duplicate ignition key - help please!
I need a duplicate ignition key. It makes me ill at ease not to have a spare, but the key doesn't have any ID numbers on it, so I'm not sure what series it might be even. Is this series recognisable by the shape of the key (picture attached)? All this one says is "Curtis USA UN-59". Perhap...

XJU 848J. Leicester area.Blue Austin van. Where has it been?
I bought this van locally in March and have been in touch with the DVLA to try to track its history. I have done the DVLA search. It spent its whole life in the Leicester area, originally sold by Grange Garages, London Road, Great Glen. But from July 92 to Nov 2008 it was located in Coalville and fo...
