protecting my cars good looks!

I have a newly acquired Minor and am hoping to use her as my everyday vehicle. Any advice on how I can best protect the bodywork and the hood (it's a convertible) from the best of the British weather? My hubby had his new car treated with 'Gardex' when he bought it.
