Seat Adjustments for shorties!

Post by jaxx »

Just got my first Moggie (YAY!) and am in need of some advice. The seat position means my very short (but still useful and lovely) legs won't reach pedals comfortably :)

I'm currently sitting on cushions! Is it an easy job to get the seat moved? Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can get this sorted? Have tried buying new legs but no luck.

Hi Jaxx, welcome to the forum. Be sure to check out the "new member?" thread in general discussion!

First thing to do is to check that your seat is adjusted as far forwards as possible (if it has an adjuster)

Second thing to do is to lift the carpet and check that the seat is bolted in the forwardmost position - if not, get it moved!

Thirdly, is your useful and lovely legs still can't reach is to raise the back of the seat slightly using blocks.

Hope that helps.

Do you also have problems seeing over the steering wheel, or is it just the legs which are outside factory tolerance? If you are a generally height disadvantaged person, then raising the front of the seat by 2" as well as the back can make a huge difference! I am 5'7" but felt lost in the moggy until I did this, also allowed me to (just) see the wing mirrors. I used 2" box section, but a couple of bits of 3x2 securely sandwiched with long screws would do the trick! Obviously, with any mods to the seating, you must be confident on your abilities to make a safe job of it!

Oh, and welcome to the board, hope we don't scare you off!

If moving the seat still isn't enough there are always other seat options.

Metro seats can be fitted.

I've got Mazda MX5 seats and with a simple seat adjustment ours can go from forward for my 5'2" wife or back for 6'1" me :)

Welcome aboard. If you do get stuck for help to move the seat SADMOG meets up most Thursdays on the edge of the forest .

I just want to point out that the flaps on the side of the hood are to be on the inside of the window frames. I see a lot of people do it and it is not the way it was intended.
