engine number not shown

Post by lucamarzana »

Hi,

I have realized that until a certain year the plate inside the engine bay did show just the chassis number but not the engine one. There was just a writing saying "see engine". (At least this is what I have seen in some pics).
So, can you tell me until what year the plate was not showing engine number and why?

Thanks and ciao.

Luca

engine number

Luca...the engine number ceased to appear on the bulkhead plate from mid
1958. The words 'See Engine' appeared instead.

Hi Willie, thanks for your reply. But I thought it was the opposite. In fact I thought the engine number did not appear until a certain year, late 50's, because if I am not wrong I have seen some 50's cars pics without it, but probably I am wrong!
Thanks again,
Luca

I agree with Willie. It seems the later cars had the numbers omitted.
