Hi
can anyone help I would like to fit a ford 5 speed box onto 1300 marina or a 1300 escort motor for my LCV. I know that the box will bolt up to the escort motor but the Pressure and clatch plates are different can anyone enlighten me to which ones I will need to make this possible. I have seen a 5 speed box with a modified ally bell housing is there one for the marina motor does anyone have URL reff or know where I could find out more thanks for any help

Many of the traders advertising in "Minor Matters" can supply the parts you need. Try the Morris Minor Centre (Birmingham) Ltd

Yes, you'll need a new engine back plate and the custom bell-housing. I have done exactly the same thing with an Ital (late Marina) engine. I bought all the parts from the Birmingham Minor Centre as simmitc points out.

They also do the appropriate clutch kits. There are a few ways to go with this depending on the power you are getting out of the engine.

The easiest way is to use a 1098 clutch cover with a Ford type clutch plate. This way you can keep the rest of the clutch linkage as the Minor centre do an adapter bracket for the mechanism to fit the side of the Ford 'box.

If your engine is tuned and producing more power then you'll need a stronger clutch cover and will have to go to a diaphragm and roller bearing set up. I have one of these in my 4 door car and I have had LOTS of problems with the roller bearings, so I would advise against this route unless you NEED to.

There is some pictures on my website of the bits: http://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/Members_Ca ... 9_1000.htm
