Another question for whoever can answer it for me. Is there anyway that I can trace what type of car a motor came form. Is there still records kept somewhere. All I have is the motor details and thanks to CAM I possably have the model it came out of. If anyone can help me it would be appreciated thanks.
not sure if I had answered my own question what I mean is what details can be found out about the Exact car if possable, that my motor had been in at the time of manufacture.
Well, Morris Motors were the only people to fit the USHM3 engines into cars and the Morris Minor was the only car that it was fitted to.
The chassis numbers and engine numbers followed each other reasonably closely so I would say from the engine number that the car was manufactured in the first quarter of 1952 (Jan - March).
The vehicles in production at that time were all highlight models: 2 door saloon, 4 door saloon and convertible (tourer).
If you want to know which EXACT vehicle the engine came out of then you might have to get a Heritage certificate from Gaydon and ask if they can do a search on the engine number but it will cost probably over £30 for this.
