ive think ive got a bent needle , my mates car which we rob bits off is 948, is the needle the same as my 1098? cheers

I would have thought that different engines have different needle profiles.
Just looked on Burlens site
948cc Carb H2 AVC888
Weak needle AB, Standard M, Rich AH2
1098cc Carb HS2 AUD13
Weak needle EB, Standard AN, Rich H6

So its looks like they are different but will the car run with the wrong needle ? and how it will run ?

I think the car will run with just about any needle if you set the mixture very rich just as a temporary measure. But you wont have alot of power and it will use alot of fuel.

I would say that you are better getting a new needle, much cheaper in the long run. Unless you can bend your original back of course?

I only reccomended running it rich just to get the car going... buying the correct needle new as Alec suggests is the best option!

I wouldn't attempt bending the needle back, as you'll ruin the jet in which it slides. A new needle only costs £7 or so, the jet not a great deal more than that. They are not all that tricky to fit & centre up either. With petrol at current prices, the new parts should pay for themselves within a 1000 miles anyway. (OK, I know that might be 5 years mileage for some, but a mere month for me!)
