Wiper problem - SII

Am just tidying things up prior to MOT following my restoration of my 56 Series II, and tried the wipers for the first time.

Unfortunately things ain't right with the world. Being a split screen, they should clap, but they don't, the spindles turn in the same direction. To solve the problem they are now sat at 90 degrees in their parked position (looks very odd).

Looking at the wiper motor it's held in place with a cable tie so I presume someone has done something to it.

So..... do the clapping variety of wipers have a different motor/track to the later variety? And am I going to have to buy a new one, or is it possible that in taking the motor out somebody has replaced it and configured it wrong?

Any help appreciated, will feel rather foolish driving around as it is, assuming the MOT man will live with them as is.

Thanks, Adam.

there must be a cable the wrong way round under the dash. Bit of a fiddle, but quite an easy mechanism when you see it

Onne's right. I think you just need to turn the wheelbox through 180 degrees so that one sits above the rack and one below. Then, your wipers should flap about in the right directions :)

Thanks all, turned a wheelbox by 180 degrees and all is working as it should.

Aiming for MOT next weekend (hopefully). Will be the first time it's been on the road since 1995.

Adam.
