bakelite knobs

anyone know how u get these off on a s11, need to get em out of the dash ,cheers steve

There's a small spring loaded pin on the underside of the Knob, push this in gently with a fine screwdriver or the likes and pull off.

They (the springs and pins) are often corroded and require GENTLE persuasion to shift.

Nah - hit them with a hammer.
If they break, then they were too weak & needed replacement anyway

ive had a look on wiring diagram, i think i can still use, the bakealites with my 1971 loom

There shouldn't be any difference between the switches. The pull-switch ones have screws to hold the wires rather than bullets or spade connectors (don't know what the later cars use). You might need to remove the aluminium trim from around the switch/speedo area on a later car to get them to fit, although I shouldn't think that would be necessary.

Just wondering how you got on replacing the flick switches with bakelite switches? I fancy having a go at that!
