Hi,
I've just picked up a 1275 marina engine (no bypass hose so I guess it's an A+). It has no ancillaries on it. Will the 1098 dizzy fit?
If not can I use one from any other 1275 engine (including metro, maestro)?
Also what inlet/ exhaust manifold carb set up will fit and work well.
I'm going to buy a back plate and flywheel from ESM.

cheers,

Tom

Is the oil filter upside-down and screwed onto the block at the rear of the engine? also, has the dizzy got a fork arrangement for holding the dizzy in? if so then it's an A+ from an Ital.

If that's the case then the 1098 dizzy won't fit (unless you virtually rebuild the thing). You can use one from pretty much any A+ engine (mini, allegro, metro, etc.) Just make sure it's lucas as not ducellier and that is IS A+ and not A-series as some early cars were A-series, oh and check it does not have the electronic ignition module on the side. You want a 45D4 preferably from a 1275 but one from a 998 will do.

Pretty much any inlet/exhaust set-up will work as long as you set the carb correctly. Use the marina one or the minor one.

Dizzy from A+ Mini will be fine - and try to get the inlet manifold and 1.75" HIF SU from an MG Metro. Of course - you will need some kind of exhaust manifold to match - and a 'big bore' exhaust system.
